A Harris County injury lawsuit gets filed at the Civil Courthouse, 201 Caroline, Houston, Texas 77002. Civil district courts fill floors 9 through 14. The county civil courts at law are on 5. Which one you draw is random assignment, and it matters, because judges differ on how fast they set trial, how they handle discovery fights, and how much patience they have for an insurance carrier that will not move.
Your cause number tells you the court. The three digits after the dash are the court number, so 2026-11234 in the 157th shows up on your citation and every order after it. The tables below give you the judge, the floor, the main line, and the court coordinator, who is the person to call about settings and resets.
If you are trying to figure out which court your case is in, or whether it should have been filed somewhere else, call Blass Law at (713) 664-4000. We file in these courts.

Three newer benches, the 513th (Judge Jacqueline Franklin), the 514th (Judge Michael Landrum), and the 515th (Judge Shawn Thierry), are classed as civil courts by the county but are housed across the street at the Family Law Center, 1115 Congress. The 513th and 514th are on the 6th floor, (832) 927-3695 and (832) 927-3745. The 515th is on the 7th, (832) 927-3795. Check the address on your notice rather than assuming Caroline.
County civil courts at law
These five courts sit on the 5th floor at 201 Caroline. Under Government Code section 25.0003(c) they hear civil cases where the amount in controversy is more than $500 and no more than $250,000, not counting interest, punitive damages, attorney’s fees, and costs. That ceiling is the reason pleading your damages carelessly can park a serious injury case in the wrong courthouse.

Talk to a Houston personal injury lawyer
Insurance carriers pay attention to which court a case is in and who is handling it. A file sitting with a lawyer who has never tried a case in front of that judge gets a different offer than a file that carrier expects to see set for trial. That is the whole game, and it starts with how the petition is drafted and where it gets filed.
